Introduction

The Camp Counselor Program is a part of the J1 Visa Cultural Exchange Program. It is designed to allow post-secondary students, youth workers, teachers and applicants with special children related skills to participate and work in American camps during summer. Participants receive wages and accommodation during their work at the camp. The programs vary in length depending on the camp duration with a maximum program duration of 4 months. After the program is complete, participants have 30 days to travel and explore the United States before they need to depart the country.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be able to provide the following in order to participate in the program:

  • Must be 18- 27 years
  • Fluency in English, since communication is very important in this program. Interview will be conducted.
  • Proof of your status as a youth worker, student, teacher, or individual with specialized skills.
  • Criminal background check from your home country dated within the last 6 months.

What’s expected to be done as a Camp Counselor?

While we typically discuss two counselor roles, each counselor has a wide range of responsibilities. Regardless of the assigned role, there is plenty of diversity in the day-to-day responsibilities, providing the opportunity to fully experience all aspects of camp life.

     Expected Roles:

Activity Specialist

Your primary responsibility will involve interacting with children and instructing them in various activities and skills, including horseback riding, archery, field hockey, and more.

Cabin Counselor

You will be tasked with living with and providing guidance to campers during their time at camp. Strive to be more than just a counselor; aim to be a bunkmate, mentor, and friend.

What does the camp include?

An accredited camp placement: Based upon your skills and knowledge you will receive your role and duty in camp.

Full Board: The camp will offer rooms and meals.

 J-1 visa sponsorship and application assistance.

 Travel medical insurance for the duration of your program.

24/7 Emergency Line.

Pre-departure orientation

Full training at camp with fellow international and American counselors to get you ready for the summer. (it’s usually a week before the camp and sometimes it’s not paid)
Up to 30 days after camp to travel: explore the states freely up to 30 days after finishing your camp

2. Document Collection and Job Placement:

Provide the necessary documents for your application and our team will reach out to our trusted sponsors to find the perfect job match for you.

3. Employer Interview Preparation:

We will prepare you for the interview with the potential employer through mock interviews and guidance which will help you create a strong impression and increase your chances of getting hired.

4. Visa Application and Interview:

Our team will be in charge of your DS-2019 Form and visa application process then you will get prepared for your embassy interview with confidence and support.

5. Feedback and traveling:

Once we receive the approval from the embassy you are now ready to travel. We will be with you throughout your trip for any help or assistance.
